And to note, I don't stop those in the river - who have hiked in - and as long as they don't stop either then I have no real issue. Generally the ones that hike in are genuine anglers who respect the land they walk on.
And as you say the creek could be used, I'll have to strengthen my floodgate and add some barb wire to discourage that - mainly because pushing the floodgate around only damages it. It took me a good day to install it and working from a ladder in the creek to set up the netting - it was a long day, so not really relishing watching interlopers wreck it.
My main aim is to stop day tripper type swimmers and picnicers using my land - between the fence and the river - as a thoroughfare.
At least i now know my rights and the challenges.
