I was convicted of IMPORT/EXPORT MARKETABLE QUANTITY OF BORDER CONTROLLED DRUGS OR PLANTS back in 03/2013. I was sentenced to 7.6m ( 3.9 in 3.9 out).
Since than i have had no other convictions, i have gone back to studies completing my cert 4 and diploma of community services along with bachelor of social science psychology.
I have all my first aid courses along with working with children's check yet i am still struggling to find any organisation to take me on mainly due to my conviction. I have all this lived experience and education under my belt but what is stopping me is my criminal history.
It has been over a decades since my conviction and the career path i have chosen is not for money but to actually help others and try/prevent others from making the same mistake as myself.
Is there anyway i can have my conviction hidden ? squashed ?

Perhaps you are asking about a concept called a "spent conviction".
Not every conviction can become spent.

I suspect that because you were sentenced to more then six months
(no matter how much you actually served), that your conviction
is not one of the kind capable of becoming spent.

Yes I was referring to Spend Conviction. Is there no other avenues ? is it possible to ask the court to make a exception if I can show how my record is affecting my career path and that i have also undergone significant changes ?

For an offence of the class you seem to be asking about, no.
