Convicted of a sex offence in 2012 aged 26 for an act in 2002 when he was only 16. Would this come up on a national police check for a mining job in 2015?

Most likely. A National police check lists an individual’s criminal and WA traffic court history and pending charges at the time of application, a conviction will only be not listed if it is spent. However in order for a conviction to be spent - you must apply for it and it must be 10 years old and I don't believe it applies to sex offences.
