The incident occurred when I was driving from Jesmond shopping centre to my house in Waratah West. I signalled my car to merge into the left driving lane from the kerb, having thoroughly checked my mirrors and blind spots, confirming clear entry into the lane with no vehicles in close proximity. A significant portion of my vehicle, the entire front half, had already entered the driving lane when suddenly the rear end of my vehicle was struck at a significant speed by the SUV resulting in significant damage to the rear driver side of my car. I can confirm that the accident occurred due to the other vehicle's failure to observe my entry into the lane having had enough time and space to do so, and there was no apparent attempt to avoid a collision . Only two individuals (two vehicles) were involved in this incident, myself and the lady driving the SUV. There were no passengers in either car.
