QLD Varying or revoking a DVO

My partner is in prison. There is a DVO and I want to visit and/or have contact with him. When my partner was on remand I tried unsuccessfully to have DVO varied to allow contact two times.

Do you think I will have better luck now he has been sentenced. The DVO was police instigated. We both want DVO varied or revoked whatever one will work as long as we can have contact.

He is eligible for parole now and do not want him to get into anymore trouble for breaching DVO when we both want it gone from our lives.

Should I hire a lawyer for this or try again for the third time by myself. It is my basic human right to have contact with him

actually, you contacted the cops because of DV. They found it serious enough to lock him up... Based on that they're gonna be very unlikely to change the rules.

He is in a very difficult situation. My advice to him would be stay clear of you. Sorry to be blunt - but when he gets out and if he visits you and an argument happens, you call the cops, he will go back inside for longer. The cops will claim it is all for your protection (maybe it is). But the cops get jack of spending their time on this stuff, the rules are there they need to be followed. Those rules have been made in your case because there is good evidence you need protecting
