NSW Sponsored with 457 Visa - Possible to Work for Uber Australia?

I have a question about the 457 visa.


I'm sponsored as a chef at the moment and I'm looking to start doing some uber job to increase my salary. I read than with the 457 visa we can not work for two different company, but with uber Australia, I would be working for myself, so I would like to know if it's applicable to this as well. They ask us to provide an abn number for the tax.

So my question is, is it possible to work for uber while I'm being sponsored with a 457 visa?

Hi Camille,

My understanding is that under the 457 Visa the 8107 condition prevents any work outside your sponsored job or company associated with your sponsor.

My suggestion would be that even working for yourself with an ABN is inconsistent with your current job and therefore not possible under the conditions of the 457 Visa.

You may wish to contact the Department of Immigration or Immigration experts to confirm my understanding.
