A solicitor was appointed as executor to my father’s estate.

Prior to the property going on the market, without consultation of the beneficiaries she contracted a handyman (not a registered painter) to do a $6,000.00 painting job. This is in contravention of the Building Services(Registration) Act 2011. A comparable quote had been given by a registered painter.

By the time she advised us that she intended to employ the handyman, unbeknownst to us, the painting had already been done. I queried her about his qualifications within 2 hours of receiving her email. She never replied to my queries.

Within 3 weeks of the painting being completed, the paint is now starting to peel and bubble. I have asked the solicitor how this is to be resolved. She disregards emails.

It is the belief of members of the family that she has behaved unethically and not in the best interests of the beneficiaries.

Can anybody please advise me what recourse we have in this situation?
