Hi.
My son was listed to attend the Magistrates court in April We engaged a solicitor to attend to his case & he told us that my son or I did not need to attend on that day as he would get the matter adjourned so that he had time to organise the brief etc. After 2 weeks I sent an email asking when the next date was, no reply. 3 weeks later I rang the office to get information. The solicitor returned my call the next day. He told me that he had not gone to court on the 10th because he was sick. Therefore there was now a warrant out for my sons arrest. In the meantime my son has taken a job interstate & now may have to come back to Victoria & lose his job.
Where do I go next, what are the options?

Your son's solicitor should have arranged for some one else within his firm to attend and have the matter adjourned.

You have a few options from here, however if it were me I would probably start by retaining a new solicitor.
