If a co- executor has carried out some executor role; eg payed for some of the deceased outstanding bills, does that make them exempt from contesting the will? My understanding is an executor can't contest a will.

Hi Ruby6

There is nothing to stop an executor from contesting a will. This is normally a "Family provision claim". Any eligible person can make a claim. Being a executor will add some complexity.

Thanks, but I have read that an executor has to step down from the job if they want to contest, though maybe that is only in NSW?
