I used a lawyer for a claim in defamation. The claim has been settled. Unfortunately, during the two years of the claim I did not receive the standard of service that anyone should expect from someone qualified in the field they specialise in.
Time limits were not met, offers to settle were not presented to me until they had expired, there was no communication with the progress of my claim and undertakings were not done.
My concerns were aired twice and on both occasions my lawyer promised to have 100% engagement. He did not. I approached Caxton, Qld Law and sought advice and all suggested that I do not do anything until my matter had settled.
It settled (I did not receive my settlement for ten months). I advised my lawyer of my intention to file a complaint against him with the commission and also extended an invitation to negotiate some form of compensation.
Another twelve months of negotiating have gone by and on most occasions, I have continued to receive the same bad service.
Can I lodge a claim against them through Lexon myself or is there any other suggestions?
Thank you.
