Hi, I have an odd question? I know that NSW Corrections Officers are sworn in similar to NSW Police officers, my question is are NSW Corrections officers able to detain/intervene a person if they witness an offence whilst off duty e.g. shoplifting, assault etc? The question is for research purposes I was not able to find an answer online

Have a look at this: CRIMES (ADMINISTRATION OF SENTENCES) ACT 1999 - SECT 253I
NSW Corrections Officer are unable to make an arrest outside of their authorised powers whilst off duty, but they could make a citizen arrest. They would need to be careful to not to come across as a police officer.
They have powers against inmates and people within correctional facilities, but they don't have powers outside of those facilities.

The question is for research purposes...
Researching what?
Nobody sits in their lounge chair and, out of nowhere, asks themselves

"...I wonder if NSW Correctional Officers have a power of arrest?"
Perhaps if you provide a little bit of background, you might get a more helpful answer.
