In the Blue Mountains there are at least five places where land owners have blocked access to bushwalking tracks that had been in use for over 100 years. In the two most egregious cases, they blocked roads with locked gates. One road leads to a national parks built car park and Aboriginal site. The other road which is kilometres long leads to a popular camp site. Both are dirt roads that could be called fire trails but were in frequent use. Is there any way the gates can be removed. In both cases, only a couple of hundred metres of road cross private land.

As a general thing, a landholder can, and can sometimes be required to fence their land.
As a further general thing, if a landholder wants to control who enters their land then, subject to a few exceptions, they can do that.
