Hello,

My grandmother passed away 6 months ago and she did not have a will or a power of attorney. My grandfather has already passed away and my grandmother has one living daughter, my aunt. My mother is my grandmother's daughter but she has passed away, so will my aunt inherit the whole of my grandmother's deceased estate or will my two sisters and myself receive half the estate?

Thank you

It would help if you could tell us what state your grandmother lived in when she passed away. Estate laws are state based.

In a typical intestacy of this type, once the funeral expenses and legacy debts are paid,
the only living daughter would get half,
and, assuming no other living children of the deceased,
then the any grandchildren (not being the children of the living daughter)
would get the other half, split equally between them.
