Husband Used Me for Australian Citizenship!

Hi. I was married to my husband for 5 years. This Saturday, we will have been separated for 12 months (separation). He cheated on me and he and his girlfriend told me that he married me only to get Australian citizenship.

He was granted citizenship approximately 2 years ago. I reported it to Immigration as soon as I found out, about a year ago.

Will he face any kind of punishment for this? Can his Australian citizenship be revoked or is it too late?

There should be some kind of immigration law that punishes people who do this.

All you can do in this situation is contact the DIAC, only the DIAC can cancel a visa subject to the provision of the Migration Act and Regulations. However, I think that if your Husband has attained citizenship already then there is not much they can do :/

Stripping citizenship would probably require more than a statement from the ex spouse.
