I have build a house on land that has a fencing covenant, requiring all fences to be constructed of timber. All side and rear fences have been made if treated pine, lapped and capped. However, I intend on doing a fancier hardwood fence from the side fence to my hosue, but don’t quite have the money for it at the moment. Instead, I got some cheap Colourbond and build a temporary fence, permanent posts and gate frame, to keep the dog and kids in.
Someone from the land sales office came and told me today I need to get rid of it or solicitors will become involved. There are all sorts of metal side fences/gates that have been put up in the street over the past year. With the covenant being for only timber to be used, and that seemingly not being enforced, do I have any ability to leave my temporary fence in place until I can afford the wooden fence I would like to put in?
