NSW Family Law - Possible to Marry Again While Keeping 1st Marriage?

My question is, one of my friend is having issues with his wife and he wanted to marry again but he also does not want to divorce his 1st wife due to his kids. So he is asking how he can marry the 2nd time while still keeping his 1st marriage under Australian immigration law and family law?

It's illegal to marry one while still married to another, but in Australia, divorce doesn't mean losing your kids.
