QLD Family Law - Can Child Under 16 Choose Where to Live?

Hi, first time posting.

If a child is either kicked out or has ran away from his/her parents, and his/her parents have another house, can the child live in the other house under family law?

No papers have been signed to release the custody of children, and the child is under 16.

My friends say it'd be illegal but I think otherwise.

with no court orders in place then it ain't illegal. Even with court ordres in place, depending on the age of the kid, the courts would possibly accept the expressed wishees of the child, especially if he/she is over 12 years old.
