How many months or years does it take to sue someone for defamation, how long to get paid if you win the case and how long to go to court if you have a case

You need to commence legal action, as a general rule, within 12 months of publication.

Shouldn't take more than 2 years if a minor and simple case. How long till paid is harder to ascertain and depends on whether any court orders have to be enforced through the sheriff's office.
