My family & I had recently sold our house in QLD & were on our way to SA for a job that I had secured & in our travels our car broke down (transmission blew up) therefore we were unable to make it to SA, we had only 9hrs travel to go & when I called the employer they said because we couldn't make it they couldn't hold the job. We found our way to Wagga Wagga where we were told of a place that could repair it, anyway long story short the repairer had the car nearly 2 months then said that they didn't want to do the job. After spending all our money on accommodation for that period we had to go to a free camping area which is situated only a very short distance to all the helpful services like vinnies, salvos & the like. We had been there for about 6 weeks when we started getting police visits saying that they had received calls about the wellbeing of our kids which we thought was odd seeing how everyone who was staying there had said that we had very well-behaved & well-mannered kids. In a space of 2 weeks, we had received 5 police visits being welfare checks on our kids to the point that the local DCJ became involved. When the DCJ came to see us, they mentioned that they had received reports about frequent drug use, violence between my wife & I & that the kids were not being looked after or even fed. When we tried to tell them that the reports are false & that we don't do drugs & that there is no violence what's so ever they didn't want to hear what we had to say or even listen to other members of the park they just immediately assumed that we are violent drug raged parents & demanded other family members contact details so that they could take our kids from us until they got the result they were looking for. They had contacted my wife's parents who we have been trying to avoid for the past 3 years & by selling our house & moving we had successfully broken ties with them & now DCJ has told them our location, that we had sold our house & basically everything that we had done which we had told them not to contact for safety reasons but they did & now all the harassment has started again from her parents. We have now been told to leave the free camping area to a caravan park where we now have to pay for rent which now makes it harder for us to live & save to get our car fixed.
I am in the construction industry I get drug tested regularly & I have very recent police check which I needed for the job in SA however that's not good enough apparently & now they are forcing us to do 2 drug tests a week for whatever reason.
We are only in Wagga because of our transmission blowing up & we are trying very hard to get it repaired so that we can leave but having been stuffed around with the previous repairer & being only a week until Christmas we don't have the money & places are shutting down for the break.
Q1. By contacting these other family members & giving out sensitive information can they be held liable?
Q2. Knowing that they are acting on false complaints can we be forced into this drug testing & why?
Q3. How long will this go on for, when will they leave us alone?
