Hi. My father will be appearing in court soon on a criminal law charge of domestic violence.

I do believe that he has falsified a legal statement and forged 2 of the complaintants signatures onto that statement. I don't believe that this statement will be produced in court as it is incriminating towards him, but what if the prosecutors produce witnesses to confirm that such a statement indeed did exist? What are the ramifications of his actions in this case?

False statement under oath- criminal charge with penalty of up to 7 years imprisonment.
Forgery on a legal document is also a crime with penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment.

Thank you for that information but it would seem that Vic police are going to drop the charges against my father with regard to this matter.. so much for the law cracking down on domestic violence in this country?

Cheers.
