Sorry for asking such confronting or sensitive questions but every court notice I've attended (driving or car accident related) the court rooms in VIC or NSW are heavily security guarded and there are metal detectors to walk through, xray scanners and being searched with wands.
It is obviously for safety Incase someone brings in weapons, guns, possibly radiocommunications(?) But why? Have there been these incidents in the past when people get injured in court rooms (in australia)?
Are there any case law sources of people being subsequently charged for bringing weapons into court rooms and attacking others?
There have been recent TV news visions of defendants attacking court room staff and judges but how how many times has this happened and have there been fatalities in the court room?
Please comment with your opinions and views.
