Good evening,
I am a co-tenant on a lease and due to multiple circumstances, I’ve had to move out. I gave notice to both the other tenant and the estate agent at the time (3rd October) and the estate agent assured me that I only needed to fill in a form as the lease isn’t being broken.
At the time the tenant said they would get someone else on the lease.
It has been 10 weeks since then and I moved out on the 10th of December. The tenant has yet to find someone to take over my half of the lease despite having ample time to do so.
My question is, for tenancy transfer form, to remove myself from the lease do both tenants need to sign? The remaining tenant has told me today that she intends to force me to stay on the lease despite my moving out as she does not want to be sole lease holder.
However I feel that 10 weeks was more than adequate notice and I do not want to be liable for any damage that occurs to the property.
Please advise best course of action.
Thank you in advance!
