We bought a car from a dealer. During the inspection, we already pointed out that there is a thick white smoke coming out of the exhaust upon start-up and he said that it’s normal and that it should get resolved by driving for 500km with 98 petrol. Since then, we had a flat battery, worn wipers, rear breaks and busted globes.

Smoke problem is still there and 2 months along the way, the check VSC came on and engine warning on as well. We only use the car from and to work to the city and to get around. 2 mechanics already checked it and they said that there’s a problem with the engine and it needs to be replaced.

Visited the dealership, and basically, they implied that we are on our own and to visit their mechanic as the findings of the others might be wrong (doubt it). Car is not covered by stat warranty. Anything we can do so they will fix the car or replace it under Australian Consumer Law?
