I recently had a car accident and had no car insurance, it was my fault, yet isn't the insurance company by law suppose to send me three quotes. Yet I've only got one quote. What should I do ?

Let me be sure I understand you correctly.

  1. You had a car, and that car was not insured.
  2. You had an accident in that car.
  3. Now, the insurer of the other car
has made a demand on you to pay
the cost of repairs to that car?

...yet isn't the insurance company by law suppose to send me three quotes.
It might be thought to be good business practice to do so,
but I don't know of it being a legal duty to get three.

Yet I've only got one quote. What should I do ?
Reply to them asking for another two?
Ask them where the insured car is, and then arrange your own repairer to go and quote on it?

There is no legal requirement to send three quotes, at least not in NSW anyway. But in line with what @Tim W says, it's a good idea to get at least a couple, as evidence of what the reasonable costs of repairing the damage are.
