VIC Car Accident with Mobility Scooter - Am I at Fault?

I was backing out of my drive way the other day and as I was crossing the footpath, a mobility scooter hit the side of my car (the back left wheel). No damage was done to my car and there was one or two scratches on the front of the scooter. He started checking the engine and making a big deal of it saying there was damage to the engine and I am worried what will come of this and if I am at fault of the car accident.

Any suggestions?

Have you received a claim since your post? Do you have car insurance? Generally, its the person reversing who must give way.
