Hi, I really hope somebody can help me because i'm in a pretty bad situation at the moment...

I recently accepted a new position for a large mining organisation and was due to start on Monday 26th February. I have handed my resignation in at my current workplace which is a full time permanent role. Last week, the new employer contacted me to advise they have decided they will be cancelling the contract due to a new restructuring plan. I am now in a really bad situation where I have handed my notice in and do not have another position to go to.

Is there anything that I can legally do? I feel really hard done by and feel I should be entitled to some form of compensation at the very least.

Looking forward to hearing back with some advice :)

No, they cannot just cancel a contract because they called you and said so.... If they want to cancel the contract they have to do it within the terms of the contract - So read it carefully and let us know?
