I just had my gas ducted heating serviced and noticed that I was charged a $110 call out fee. Now I would expect this if I was calling a firm out re the potential that they might not end up doing any actual work so they have to cover their costs but when its for a service is it right that they charge a call out fee?

I called and they stated that if if they had to come out again within 3 months this fee would cover that and they would only then charge for labour.

Is this right?

Most trades have a call out fee, and it often includes the first portion of time (eg 15 minutes).

There is nothing illegal about a call-out fee per se for a tradie.
