In early Jan, I visited my friend in Newstead and parked at the visitor parking, a 4 hour parking zone. However, after 3 hours when I left, my car was towed. When I found the body corporate manager and got my car back (they towed it back), my front bumper was damaged when they removed the car from the tow truck.

I took the photos and sent back to them and they promised me to get it fix. But after two weeks, no response from them and they kept hanging up my calls many times.

I also found the manager but seems he is not willing to help. What can I do?

I really don't want to use my car insurance as I didn't do anything wrong.

Updated, finally I received a call from the boss today but he only offer me a bumper repairer booking next week.

He said some marks are not made by the tow truck (only some in top, which made by stone on road) and he now help me to repair by his repairer or he won't pay any if I find my workshop.

Can he not pay anything if I ask my insurance company to repair?

Hey,

Try asking your insurance company what your options are maybe, e.g, any excess fees you might have to pay your insurance company, any effect on your no claim bonus (if you have a good rating usually no effect if its not your fault).

Is it covered under your car insurance? If it's covered by insurance, what about the Tow operators or the body corporate insurance.

Take photos & get a couple of free quotes yourself - there are guys/workshops out there that specialise in doing bumpers up - they might do it cheaper (often they do it for the panel beaters & so can charge you less).

I would like to point out QCAT Adjudicators have rarely taken a liking to restrictions on the amount of a time a visitor car park can be used, such as this, by their body corporate. Whether it is a friend popping over for a quick two-hour lunch or a cousin staying in your guest room for a week over the summer; they are both visitors and the visitor car parking is there to accommodate them. Hopefully Toby yip you have your car sorted out by now.

At the end I found my insurance to fix it and the insurance company said that no effect on my rating coz I'm not driving nor in fault. I took this step coz the manager was really bad in attitude when he called, like "I already gave you the offer, if you don't take it, it's not my business". I was planning to go to the workshop I know so I can fix it at a low rate, but after the phone calls, I just use my insurance and the price they claimed, definitely higher.

To anyone who may face this situation, if you are not at fault, don't afraid to contact your insurance, they will help you to sort it out.
