Long story short.

A tradie on the block next to mine threatened to break my legs and burn my house down, etc. He will soon be charged with these as I recorded the call (legal) but I was wondering, can I sue him for mental health stress or for the cost of installing a cctv system at my house, as my wife is concerned for her safety?

The guy has an assault prior.

Yes, you can sue. You will need to see a lawyer to put a case together.

Not sure if it advisable if this person really is dangerous then a camera is not much of a deterrent.

As well as criminal charges see about getting a personal safety intervention order against him as well.

Thanks for the reply.
I already booked in to get an intervention order, and my "urgent" hearing has to wait till the end of May!
I asked what to do if my legs got broken before then, she told me to call 000.
