NSW Am I Liable for De Facto's Debt?

I have recently discovered that my de facto has had secret debt and has entered a debt agreement for $35,000. We are now separating and selling our house.

Will I be in any way liable for the debt he has incurred?

Hi Christy,

I would definitely speak to a lawyer. I'm pretty sure you are not automatically responsible for your partners debt in a de facto relationship or marriage. You might need to prove that your were unaware of the debt and thus are not responsible but you should get some formal advice tailored to your situation.
