I have recently ended my lease with 28 days notice because the property I was renting has existing water leak/mold issues, which I was not aware of. Repairs or the lack of has been going on for about 1.5 years while I was renting and the latest mold report declares that 50% of the property has mold. I have a auto-immune problem that has gotten much worse during this rental so my health limits my time in the apartment.
I am currently trying to get my belongings in the moldy rooms treated, fogged (mainly my designer clothing and $10k relatively new mattress) but the agent insist on doing it after the repair is done. I have already thrown out two boxes of my possession based on the mold specialist advice and do not want to throw out more. I also do not want to bring affected things into my newly renovated home.
I gave 28 days notice because I do not want it to affect my work and had planned to pack and move every weekend. At the rate of the repairs, I doubt it will get done before I move out.
I am trying to get my agent to confirm a date in writing but she resists. I have escalated it as a customer service problem to the director of the company but nothing is done. Can you please advise?
