A job, employment, work or occupation, is a person's role in society. More specifically, a job is an activity, often regular and often performed in exchange for payment ("for a living"). Many people have multiple jobs (e.g., parent, homemaker, and employee). A person can begin a job by becoming an employee, volunteering, starting a business, or becoming a parent. The duration of a job may range from temporary (e.g., hourly odd jobs) to a lifetime (e.g., judges).
An activity that requires a person's mental or physical effort is work (as in "a day's work"). If a person is trained for a certain type of job, they may have a profession. Typically, a job would be a subset of someone's career. The two may differ in that one usually retires from their career, versus resignation or termination from a job.

WA My partner is having child support coming out for 3 of his children. He left his job of 37 years and got over $20,000 lump sum for holidays owing.

Having been paid a lump sum of $20,000 paid out for holidays bringing his total earnings for tax after leaving his job of 37 years, will this make his child support payments go higher? For next financial year as his pay has not gone up.

    NSW Left my job.....

I left my permanent, part-time position at a popular retail company because my manager refused my request for compassionate leave. QLD What is the process for an executor in Queensland to stop doing the job?

If there are two executors in place and the first will not do the job anymore, saying they "are stepping down", and it goes to the second by default, what happens if they then also do not wish to to do the job. It is my belief that if neither executor wishes to continue their duties as the...
